Adding Value to Your Home with an Airconditioning Unit

Monday, 19 November 2018 by
Adding Value to Your Home with an Airconditioning Unit

Whether you’re selling your home or not, buying a new airconditioning unit is a great best investment to increase its value.

While a lot of homeowners invest in other more expensive projects, updating your in-home air conditioning units is a smart step in adding value to your property while helping you save on energy and money as you live in it.

Choosing an Airconditioning Unit that Increases Your Home’s Value

Many real estate experts agree that most buyers expect in home air conditioning units to work perfectly when they purchase a property, so updating your airconditioning unit can be necessary to grab interest. To make sure that you choose the right aircon unit to add value to your home, you should consider a few important factors:

The Right Aircon Unit Size

One of the first things that you should consider when buying a new airconditioning unit for your home is its size. Find an aircon unit that is enough to accommodate your home’s square footage to ensure that every part of your house is cooled properly. Buying a bigger airconditioning unit will be both a waste of money in energy and equipment costs. Settling for small home air conditioning units, on the other hand, will cause problems in keeping the right temperature in your property.

Out With the Old, In With the New

Experts advise against buying window units since they are more costly to maintain and can bring down a home’s value. If you currently have window residential air conditioning units, consider replacing them with a newer air conditioning unit model. If your installation team has easy access to your pipes and your house already has air ducts, a central air con unit costs much less to install. If you’re having a hard time deciding which airconditioning unit will fit your property perfectly, talk to the experts to get some advice on choice and installation.

Taking the Green Route

New homeowners are on the lookout for energy efficient homes to help them save money and do something for the environment while they’re at it. One of the best ways to make your property greener is through buying an air conditioning unit that’s energy efficient. This will help you attract more potential buyers and put your property at the forefront of the market.

After you’ve decided on the right airconditioning unit to buy for your property, you should also consider the importance of proper installation. These home air conditioning units require careful installation for them to work properly and efficiently for many years. To ensure that you achieve this, it’s better to have the experts install your new airconditioning unit to avoid costly mistakes that could decrease the value of your property. Once everything is installed, you can enjoy a cooler home with your quality aircon unit while knowing that you may get good returns once you put it on sale.

How to Save Electricity with an Air Conditioner

Wednesday, 07 November 2018 by
How to Save Electricity with an Air Conditioner

The unforgiving Australian climate makes air conditioning a must-have. Yet as we enjoy the comfort they bring, we have to contend with rising electricity bills. But it isn’t all bad news. Here’s some tips on how to save electricity with an air conditioner.

Set the temperature a little higher this summer

Air conditioning Brisbane experts at the Air Conditioning Advisory Centre say this is one tip that will really make a difference to your electricity bill. The most common AC temperature customers set their systems to during summer in Queensland is between 21 – 23°. However, setting the AC temperature at 24° or 25° can still be comfortable, while saving you a lot on on your energy bill. You can apply the same principle to winter too. Adjusting the temperature just a few degrees can make a big difference.

Only cool the spaces you are using

If you have a central AC system use the zoning options to ensure you are only cooling or warming areas that are being used. Alternatively, you can invest in a portable AC or split system that will only cool/warm the space you are in.

Replace older AC Units with newer and more energy efficient ones

If you want to know how to save electricity with an air conditioner, look at the energy rating on your current AC. The more the stars, the more energy efficient the AC is and the cheaper it is to run. Unfortunately, older models often have fewer stars and consume a lot of energy. Investing in a new and more energy efficient AC unit will save you more money in the long run.

Choose the right AC unit for your property

Homes and spaces with high ceilings or too many windows are much harder to warm or cool. The size of the rooms that need cooling or warming will determine the kind of AC you should buy. If you need help picking the right one, our air conditioning Brisbane experts are on hand to help you choose one.

Keep yourself warm during winter

Keep yourself warm by wearing a jumper, warm pair of socks and drinking a hot cup of tea or coffee. For those moments when you are relaxing, cover yourself with an electric blanket. These are much more energy efficient measures compared to relying on the AC to keep your entire house warm. In summer, wearing lighter clothing will keep you cooler.

Save With the Air Conditioning Advisory Centre

At the Air Conditioning Advisory Centre, we are more than happy to advise on the best energy saving solutions for your needs. We offer air conditioning installation, servicing and repair services for both residential and commercial premises.

The Most Common Types Of Air Conditioner: Air Con Brisbane

Thursday, 09 August 2018 by
Air Con Brisbane

Are you in the market for air con Brisbane? Choosing the cooling (or warming) system for your home or office can be overwhelming, especially when there are so many units to choose from.

Each cooling system has its own capacity, advantages and disadvantages.
To make the right decision, you need to know the basics of each of the different types before you decide which one to buy.

Types of Air Con Brisbane

When it comes to air con Brisbane customers can rely on the Air Conditioning Advisory Centre for expert advice. Here is our overview of the different options you can consider.

Window Air Con Brisbane

The most common type of air con and the one you’re probably familiar with is the window air conditioner.

This AC system is used for cooling single rooms. It is also called unitary units because all the refrigerant components are housed in a single unit or box.

This type of air con is easy to install, without requiring changes to the property, making it a preferred option for many rental tenants. It is also less expensive compared to the other AC systems.

The downside of this system is it gets a little noisy at it gets older. It is also less energy efficient compared to the more expensive AC types.

Through-the-Wall Air Con Brisbane

Though you may think it looks like a window air conditioner, through-the-wall conditioner actually differ in weight, design, and cooling capacity.

For this type of air con Brisbane residents or businesses will have the unit installed within a chassis sleeve in the wall, and once it’s there, there’s no moving it anywhere.

If you want to cool a larger area, this cooling system does the job. It is also more efficient than window units.

The disadvantage of this system is that it is not easy to install because you need a hole in your wall.

Split Air Con Brisbane

One of the most common types of air con Brisbane customers choose, is the split system. This unit has two parts – the indoor unit and the outdoor unit. The indoor unit is composed of the evaporator and cooling fan, while the outdoor unit has the compressor, condenser and expansion valve.

This type has many advantages.

It doesn’t take up much space. It doesn’t require ductwork. It blends easily with your decor.

It is also designed to operate at very quiet levels because the compressor and condenser are located in the exterior unit.

Central or Ducted Air Con Brisbane

One common type of air con Brisbane hotels, larger homes and buildings turn to is the central air conditioning system.

Also referred to as ducted air conditioning, this air con type can cool any room size by supplying cooled (or warm) air through air ducts or vents located in the wall or floors in the room.

This cooling system has many advantages.

Did you know it actually improves the air quality? As the warm air is pulled into the ducts, it passes through a filter that removes airborne particles like dust, lint, and allergens.

It is also quiet, you can barely detect the noise. Centralised air cons also do not take up visible space, and they are very easy to operate and isolate the cooling or warming to a specific zone.

The con side to a centralised air conditioning is the installation can be very expensive. It requires ductwork, which can be labour intensive to install.

The Air Conditioning Advisory Centre in North Brisbane specialise in air con installation, repair, and preventative maintenance and provide top air con products including Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric.

Air Conditioning Brisbane Northside Maintenance

In order for your AC unit to function efficiently, it requires regular maintenance.
The home air conditioner experiences wear and tear from daily use. It can also develop mechanical problems over time. If you want to keep it running smoothly, then you should pay attention to its service and maintenance needs.

Why You Need Air Conditioning Brisbane Northside Services

Regular air conditioning service can also save you money. It prevents unexpected breakdowns that can leave you hot and bothered in the middle of a hot summer’s day. The technician can also find small issues during regular maintenance before they become big problems. If they are left unaddressed, they could result in repairs that are more expensive.

The air conditioner accumulates dust and dirt in the condensing coils and filters that can affect the unit’s efficiency. Replacing or cleaning the filters is one of the most important tasks during AC maintenance. Dirty and clogged filters block airflow and lower the efficiency of the system.

The condenser coils can become very dirty. Its fins accumulate dirt especially when the unit is near foliage or a dusty environment. Technicians will make sure to prevent any damage to the aluminium fins and bring them back to their original condition.

By employing the services of a professional, you recover a high percentage of lost efficiency of your system. The AC unit would be working as good as new. You would also enjoy reduced monthly energy bills and avoid expensive repairs.

When to Hire Professionals in Air Conditioning Brisbane Northside

You should have your air conditioner serviced at least once a year. That way you can ensure the unit operates at optimum efficiency. However, you should contact the service provider as soon as possible if you suspect something is wrong with your unit.

Our air conditioning Brisbane Northside maintenance services include:

  • Checking the amount of refrigerant: We will make sure there are no refrigerant leaks, which is an environmental hazard.
  • Testing for leaks in the seals and pipes: We will check if the system is draining properly and pipes are not clogged.
  • Measuring airflow going through the evaporator coil: Airflow is important to ensure the system is performing at maximum level.
  • Inspecting the power terminals: Corrosion of terminals and wires is common in most systems and that’s why our technicians check it to prevent electrical troubles.
  • Analysing the accuracy of the thermostat: The thermostat sensor can behave erratically over time that can result in the AC cycling constantly.

Licensed Air Conditioning Brisbane Northside Experts

When employing an air conditioning company, make sure that it is licensed to operate in Brisbane. That way you can have peace of mind knowing an expert is servicing your unit. The company should have technicians who have the skills and experience to do the job right the first time.

What Size Air Conditioning System Do You Need for a Room? Air Conditioning Brisbane

Thursday, 26 July 2018 by
Air Conditioning Brisbane

Imagine yourself going through the air conditioning installation process, only to find out that it’s not the right size system. Stressful and traumatic right? The truth is, you do not have to experience this dilemma if you consult experts in air conditioning Brisbane.

The Air Conditioning Advisory Centre can help you find the right size air conditioning system to install in your home or business.

Installing the right size air conditioning system can also bring you significant benefits. It can save you money, time and stress.

Air Conditioning Brisbane Considerations

There are several factors that you have to consider before deciding on the size of AC system to install. First, your comfort. Second, your budget and third your needs.

Our air conditioning Brisbane team will advise you of options that suits all of the above needs. We offer a variety of air conditioning systems, which includes multi-head air conditioning systems, ducted air conditioning system, split system air conditioning units, cassette systems, and floor air conditioning systems.

What Size of Air Conditioner Do I Need?

To help decide what size of air conditioning Brisbane customers need, we consider the following:

What is the size of the room?

The size of the room should be the primary factor that you have to consider. The larger the room is, the larger cooling capacity it needs. But take note that, this is not simply about measuring the floor space of your room. You also have to remember that, rooms with high ceilings require a different air cooling capacity than those with lower ceilings.

Is the room shady or sunny?

The next thing that you have to consider is the aspect of the room that you wanted to cool. For instance, a room that is bathed in sunlight all day needs an air conditioner that works harder during summer. This will mean that it requires a bigger air conditioning system. The same applies for shady rooms during winter.
What type of insulation do you have?

A room that is poorly insulated tends to let out the heat during the winter and retain too much warmth during summer. Your insulation needs to be taken into account when deciding on the size of your air conditioning system.

How many people stay in the room?

The last thing that you have to think of is the number of people that usually gathers in the room. The more people there are in the air conditioned room, the larger the air conditioning unit you will need, due to the increased body heat.
Plan Ahead!

As you can see, there are numerous factors to consider, which is why you should consult specialists in air conditioning Brisbane, and take the time to plan before going out to shop for an air conditioner.

When it comes to experts in air conditioning Brisbane can look to the Air Conditioning Advisory Centre. We will ensure you purchase the most appropriate air conditioner unit that suits your needs.

7 Benefits of Installing an A/C Unit in Your Property

Thursday, 29 March 2018 by
Brisbane Air Conditioning

With heat steadily rising, you may find yourself looking for ways to manage your electricity bills. While most people have other cooling systems in their homes, it is usually not the most affordable option to combat the heat. Air conditioners aren’t only affordable; they are also very efficient when it comes to energy usage. A/Cs can fit easily into your home and are available in a wide range to accommodate all home sizes.

There are so many cooling options available on the market today, so you may be wondering why you should consider an Air conditioning unit. To help you figure out the right choice, here are 7 reasons why A/Cs are the best for you.

1. Affordable

One of the advantages of buying an A/C unit is that they are affordable. In addition to being inexpensive to purchase, they are also affordable to operate on a day-to-day basis. The overall cost of an A/C unit will, however, depend on the capacity and features that come with it. On average, a good A/C unit will cost you somewhere around $300-$500.

2. Energy Efficient

If you want your home to remain cool for a long time with minimal damage to the cost of energy, an A/C unit is your best option. To further enhance your search, look out for units that have been Energy-Star certified.

3. Easy Installation

The installation process for an A/C unit is very easy. Although the process of installation may differ from one type to the other, it is usually very straightforward and can be accomplished easily. You can decide to install your A/C yourself by following the instructions in the pack or hire an HVAC professional to help you.

4. Dynamic

A/C units can be used in so many different places in and outside your home. You can use it in a non-permanent housing, and take it along with you when you move. It can be used in rooms in your homes, bedrooms, kitchen, study, gym, theatre, etc. You can also use them in your offices as well.

5. Brands

There are so many brands of air conditioners available to you on the market today. While some of these brands may be more efficient and have longer life than others, it is important to know that they all have the same function, which is to cool a space. Some of the popular A/C brands include Mitsubishi, Daikin, etc.

6. Features

There are so many features that come with A/Cs these days. Some of these features might seem frivolous to you, but others have the need for them. These features also range from one A/C type to the other. Some popular features include timer, filter type, fan speed, air direction control, remote, etc.

7. Easy Fit

A/Cs do not take up so much space in your room. While some A/Cs are bigger than others, they are typically designed to take as little space as possible in a room. Whether you live in a small apartment or a mansion, an A/C will take the least amount of space possible.

5 Ways to Keep Your Air Conditioner Running Smoothly

Thursday, 29 March 2018 by
Split System Installation

Having an air conditioner is a must especially during the summer period. As important as this fixture is, a lot of homeowners do not understand how they work. Having a little bit of knowledge about your A/C can help you perform some preventive air conditioning maintenance practices that keep your unit working optimally. Here are a few tips that will help you extend the life of your A/C.

1. Clear out the Condenser Unit

The condenser unit of your A/C should be cleaned regularly. It is usually outside your home, and end up most times gathering debris, dirt and any other particles, which are then blown by breeze around your house. To clear the unit out, use a coil cleaner, flush the coil out and allow it to dry. Finally, you can clean the fins of the condenser with a brush.

2. Check the Evaporator

From time to time, take a look at your A/C’s evaporator. You can find it above the furnace area which is known as the plenum. If you can access the evaporator by yourself, ensure that you clean it out regularly. Experts’ advice that you perform a thorough cleaning of your evaporator, at least once a year. This will help extend the life of your A/C. To clean the evaporator, remove the foil from the front of the plenum, remove the screen or buts and lift the plate off. Use a damp cloth or rag to wipe away the dirt from it, as well as any other build up from the bottom side of the evaporator. You can also use a bush to do this.

3. Observe the Freon Level

What cools your home in an A/C is called the Freon. Any unit that lacks this component will not be able to cool your home. Ensure that your unit has enough Freon in it. If you feel that there is a problem with the Freon level of your A/C, contact a professional technician to help you check it out.

4. Clean or Replace the Filter

At the beginning of every summer, make sure you remove the grill of your A/C. You can clean it or replace it entirely. Also, make sure you check it at least once every month. If you stay in an area that is elevated and receives more than normal amount of wind, sand or dust, you should clean and replace your filters more frequently than others would.

5. Clean the System’s Fan

Your A/C has fans that cool it while it is working. Take a look at the fans and see if they are dirty. If there are any residues or dust on it, or if the blades are askew, fix it before it becomes a problem. Open the cabinet to access the fan, and then use a damp cloth to clean it. If the blades are loosened, tighten them in place. Also, if the fan has oil ports, drop a few drops of non-detergent motor oil in them at the beginning of every summer. This will help system operate at its greatest efficiency.

5 Signs that Your Homes Air Conditioner Might be Failing

Thursday, 29 March 2018 by
Home Air Conditioner Service & Repair

Look After Your Homes Air Conditioner

One of the main reasons why the domestic air conditioner packs up is because homeowners simply don’t notice the warning signs.

As a homeowner, once you know what to look for, it’ll help stop further damage in the future. An air conditioner is expensive to replace, so it’s important that you look after it, so that it lasts for as long as possible.

What Are the Main Signs of a Failing Air Conditioner

It is really not that difficult to tell when your air conditioner might be failing. Most people notice the signs sometimes, but then they usually think it’s in their head. Most people just wait until the air conditioner packs up before calling for it to be repaired.

Outlined below are 5 signs that your homes air conditioner might be failing.

1. Your Air Conditioner is Not Cooling Enough

You may find out that your A/C unit is not cooling enough, even when you put it on full blast. This is usually one of the tell-tale signs that your unit is in need of service or repairs. It can mean that the unit’s compressor has failed, or that the Freon level is too low.

A qualified technician will help you identify the cause, and fix it before any further damage your unit.

2. Weak Air Flow from Your A/C Unit

Your unit might be in need of service & repairs if you notice weak or poor air flow through the vents. This may also mean that the compressor of your air con unit is failing. If you notice that some rooms are receiving cold air and others aren’t, the problem might be from the duct, which means your unit needs to be repaired.

To fix this problem doesn’t cost that much, but the resulting damage can cost you so a lot more.

3. Leakage or Moisture Around Your Air Con

When there is moisture or leakage around the area where your air conditioner is, might be an indication of a problem. Moisture or leakages can be as a result of either the refrigerant leaking which can pose serious problems to the home & your family, or the drain tubes that dispose of the unit’s condensation are broken or blocked.

This problem can be tackled easily, so address it as soon as you notice it.

4. There an Odor coming from Your A/C Unit

If you start to notice strange or foul smells when your air conditioner is turned on, it most likely means that your air conditioner’s insulation wire has burnt out.

If you notice a musty smell, it most likely means that a mold has grown inside your air conditioner, which must be taken out immediately, to prevent irreparable damage to your air con unit.

5. Your Air Con Sounds Odd/ Different

When you hear certain strange sounds coming from your air conditioner, it means that there is a problem somewhere. Grinding, squealing or grating sounds from your air conditioner might be a sign that you need to repair the whole A/C unit because there is something seriously wrong with the unit.

Failure to service the unit as soon as you notice any strange sounds will eventually result in a total breakdown, which will cost you a lot more to fix or replace.
